Scouting Events--Forming and Working with Raw Clay II

Scout Troops Ages 10 and Up-- $20.00 per child (+ tax)

This program is identical to Forming and Working with Raw Clay I, but with one decided difference; the finished project is a larger, functional piece, (i.e., animal pot, coil project, slab vase, etc.) This program is ideal for older groups who have worked with clay in the past and are looking to build on their knowledge of this versatile medium.

  • More in-depth discussion of clay and its properties

  • How to work with clay

  • Creation of a basic Pinch Pot

  • Scouts leave their creations at our shop for 5 to 7 days and are then fired to bisque in our kilns, making the pots ready for painting

  • Scouts come back about two weeks after their first visit and paint their pots

  • Village Clay will glaze and fire the pinch pots a second time

  • Scouts return one week later to pick up their finished masterpieces!

Duration:

  • Week I: 1.5 – 2 hours

  • Week II: 1 hour

Please note: This activity is geared towards children 10 and older who have worked with clay before and are interested in building on that skill set. Exceptions to the age bracket can be made. Please call to discuss.
